National volunteers week

National Volunteer Week, 1st to 7th June, celebrates the difference volunteers make to communities across the country.

At The Family Law Company, many of us feel passionate about giving back to our communities.

Who do you support?

Exeter Citizens Advice

What do you do?

I am a Trustee sitting on the Financial Resources Committee.

What do they do?

Citizens Advice Exeter can help people sort out money, legal and other problems. They provide free, confidential, impartial and independent information and advice on a wide range of subjects including:

  • benefits
  • employment
  • housing
  • debt
  • consumer rights
  • legal issues

As well as offering advice, they campaign for change using real experiences to influence local and national policymakers and service providers to improve policies and services which aren’t working.

The Citizens Advice service aims to:

  • provide the advice people need for the problems they face
  • improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives

Advice provided by the Citizens Advice service is free, independent, confidential, and impartial, and available to everyone regardless of race, sex, disability, sexuality or nationality.

Why do you volunteer?

I wanted to be able to support Citizens Advice and the worthwhile work they do within the community. I was surprised to learn that the organisation is a charity and relies on donations. The work that the volunteers do is second to none and I really enjoy working with them.
