I am a Trustee for Effervescent in Plymouth. Effervescent is a charity that researches the impact of arts on individuals and devises new ways to make those impacts stronger. The main body of work undertaken is around programmes of work, services, or experiences that address unmet needs in groups of children and young people. The charity has worked with young carers and children who have suffered child exploitation.

I wholly support the charity as I have witnessed the work done with groups of children for which there is no other, or very little provision. The result of the work is amazing; there are young people who have worked with Effervescent who have gone on to take Arts degrees and others who have simply been able to meet others going through similar struggles to their own. I am very proud to be part of Effervescent and believe that the work that is done can change the lives of young people.

Effervescent is based at Radiant House in Plymouth. The current show in the gallery is I Am Not A Robot, which highlights the need for more foster carers in Plymouth. If you are in the area, do drop in to see the little robots before the show comes to an end next week when it makes way for the annual and wonderfully festive Radiant Grotto (tickets are available at www.radiantspace.org.uk/whats-on/christmas-grotto-back/).
