Family law specialist expands in Cornwall

The Family Law Company is extending its regional presence with the appointment of a new Cornwall-based Director.

Lucy Theobald joins the firm to support The Family Law Company’s strategy to build on its solid reputation in the South West. Although the firm has clients in the county, until now it hasn’t had a full-time presence in Cornwall.

Brought up in Hayle, Lucy’s interest in law began after undertaking work experience at a local law firm, joining full time as an office junior after her A levels. She went on to study law part time and gained her LPC at Bristol to qualify as a Solicitor whilst working with three further Cornish law firms.

Lucy provides clients with family law services including divorce and finance plus children matters and domestic abuse for which she has Resolution accreditation. Although based in Cornwall she will be able to access The Family Law Company’s Plymouth office as needed. However, working remotely means she will be able to visit clients in rural communities.

She said: “There aren’t many family specialists with as much in-depth expertise in Cornwall, so clients will have access to a wider range of services. As a niche law firm there are no competing departments, so everyone has the same goal with a client centred ethos.

“This is a positive move, and The Family Law Company provides a clear career path for my future in the sector.”

In the longer term, The Family Law Company is considering options for opening a Cornwall office.

Director of Business Development, Rachel Buckley said: “This is the start of something really exciting. We’re delighted to welcome Lucy to the team and to be able to provide our services further afield.

“Her knowledge of the area includes in depth understanding of the needs of the rural and farming communities, which is an invaluable resource.
