Melissa is a trainee solicitor in our Divorce and Finance team.  Starting as a Legal Administrator for Norman Hartnell, Joint Managing Director, in the Divorce and Finance team,  Melissa was quickly promoted to a paralegal to work in the Children and Domestic Abuse team, where she supported Director Imran Khodabocus with complex children matters, often where a Guardian had been appointed.

In 2022 following completion of her LLB in Legal Practice, Legal Practice Certificate and MSc in Law and Business Management, Melissa began her training contract with The Family Law Company. Melissa completed her first seat as a Trainee Solicitor in the Unmarried Family Finance Team working closely with Director David Cobern. Melissa dealt with pre and post nuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements, and claims under the Trust of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996.

In March 2023 Melissa moved into our Divorce and Finance Team where she works closely with Rachel Buckley, Joint Managing Director. Within this role Melissa support clients at all stages of the divorce process and during the resolution of their financial separation.

Melissa brings her prior experience of personal injury and clinical negligence and understanding of not just civil matters but also the emotional nature of these cases.

Melissa’s clients also benefit from her previous senior roles in education and training.  Melissa has also undertaken voluntary consultancy for a Domestic Abuse Community Interest Company to help them develop a strategic plan, as well as using her teaching background to co-facilitate sessions to empower victims of domestic abuse.

When not at work, Melissa loves to spend time with her family and friends, enjoys long walks with the dog and loves watching musicals.
