Image of 3 new family law shareholders. We are delighted to announce the promotion of three of our lawyers as part of our intention to build on growth seen over recent years.

The new roles are representative of the ongoing success of the firm as a specialist in the area of family law. David Cobern and Donna Hart, who are based in Exeter, and Jonathan Madge who works from our Plymouth office have become shareholder owners in the firm, bringing the total number of shareholders to eight.

Whilst Jonathan is already a Director of the firm, David and Donna have both been given the status of Director of Legal Services. This role offers a well-defined career development path for senior fee earners, and can include taking the lead in a particular legal practice area, providing leadership for junior fee earners and managing the firm’s relationship with key clients.

Managing Director, Norman Hartnell said: “It is a pleasure to announce these well-deserved promotions and to recognise the contributions these talented individuals have made to the ongoing success of The Family Law Company in providing a valuable service to clients in the West Country and beyond.”

Legal Executive David Cobern, who has worked for the firm for 14 years and has expertise in the Unmarried Finance area of family law, said: “I’m delighted to now have a stake in the business and to have a say in its future direction. The Family Law Company is a friendly firm with a great deal of expertise in what can be a difficult area of law.”

Donna Hart recently won a coveted Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX) President’s Award. She said: “I am really pleased that The Family Law Company is recognising the work that Legal Executives do, and that the company is so keen to have us on board.”

“This is a wonderful development for me on a personal and professional level,” added Director Jonathan Madge, an experienced collaborative lawyer who heads up the Divorce and Finance team for the Plymouth office.

“I am keen to help build on the firm’s growth and success in future years, and to continue to offer help from our Plymouth office to people with family law issues across South and West Devon and South-East Cornwall.’
