Going to see a divorce lawyer for the first time can seem very daunting.

We ensure that all clients whether attending alone or with others are made to feel safe and welcome upon their first visit, from our relaxing reception area to our friendly highly trained specialist family lawyers.

Often clients like to bring a friend or relative for support or to take notes. This can be really helpful and a great support for clients.

We always encourage clients to bring in someone to support them if they are feeling anxious, often clients find after the first meeting that they are able to come along to future appointments on their own.

Friends and family members can be a great strength whilst clients are going through difficult times and can offer great support and advice.  However, it is always worth being mindful that a friend or family member’s experience of divorce or their settlement may not be similar to yours.

Often friends may say “my divorce took 6 months – why hasn’t yours concluded yet?”

It is important to remember that no two cases are the same and time scales and settlements will vary.

The Family Law Company’s solicitors in Exeter and Plymouth aim to resolve your matter as swiftly as possible… and if you are thinking about getting advice regarding divorce please call us to find out details of our fixed fees.
