A new report has revealed that the cost of divorce has increased a staggering 17 per cent in just three years. It has been estimated that divorcing and separating couples are now spending £14,561 on legal and lifestyle costs.

The report by Aviva also discovered that legal fees have more than doubled since 2014, from £1,280 to £2,679, with any additional costs in children act proceedings increasing by 62 per cent, from £3,500 to £5,671.

As a result of escalating costs, a significant number of people are utilising their savings or relying on family and friends to assist.

The Family Law Company understands that divorce can be one of the most difficult times a person can experience and how the added pressures of legal fees can add to that stress and worry.

As family law is all we do, we have the benefit of a large team who can assist you throughout the process, with professionals at varying levels who can get involved with your case. This will help to keep your costs low.

We will help you through the process and keep you updated regularly in respect of your ongoing legal costs to ensure they do not escalate unnecessarily. Our legal fees remain very competitive in the current market.

Importantly, we offer an initial free appointment to discuss your needs. At that meeting we will provide you with various options in respect of your costs including legal aid and our reduced rate schemes. We can also tailor our advice and assistance to your budget, if you have one.

At this initial meeting we will always provide you with a general estimate for legal fees so that you are fully aware and prepared – and not left with unwanted surprises.

If you are currently experiencing difficulties in your marriage, recently separated or having issues regarding children please contact us for an initial no obligation appointment. We have offices in Exeter, Plymouth and Taunton.
