We asked colleagues from across our business to share why they’re proud to work for the family law company. Here is what divorce solicitor Sasha Walton had to say.
The Family Law Company is genuinely a friendly and supportive place to work. It doesn’t have the stuffy and hierarchical vibe that some bigger firms have. Working at a firm full of family law specialists is a real benefit, there is always someone to ask a question or discuss a matter. I am regularly learning from colleagues with a wealth of experience, who are always willing to share their knowledge and take the time to help when I need guidance. Any concerns I have are listened to and solutions are offered.
It’s not all blood, sweat, tears and chargeable hours. There are of course targets but they are reviewed to make sure they are achievable. While many firms allude to their people being key our company really wants its staff to thrive and progress in their role. I think our staff retention is testimony to that.
There is a mentoring scheme, where employees can seek guidance from more experienced members of staff to help their career progression and employees are encouraged and supported through gaining additional qualifications and accreditations.
The Company invests in employee wellbeing and regularly arranges speakers and initiatives to promote staff wellbeing which arguably during lockdown has been more vital than ever. No one is expected or encouraged to work beyond their contractual hours (although it does happen on occasion – no one is perfect). There is a strong emphasis on work/life balance and flexible working is supported and accommodated where possible and it isn’t a new thing due to Covid-19. I have colleagues who have worked from home at least once a week for the last 15 years.
Despite being a small law firm we still have some great perks that range from free coffees and treat boxes on your birthday to private medical cover and free access to counselling.
If you want a corporate firm feel the Family Law Company probably isn’t for you but if you want quality work, great role models and the feeling that you are making a difference to someone’s life you should definitely consider the Family Law Company.
