Two of Hartnell Chanot’s Legal Executives, Donna Hart and Gemma Sparks, have recently qualified at British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1.

Donna and Gemma, who are both Fellows of the Institute of Legal Executives, work across the broad spectrum of family law. They studied in their own time at the Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education and passed all three modules to achieve the Level 1 qualification.

The BSL Level 1 qualification is designed to enable learners to communicate with deaf people in BSL on a range of topics that involve simple, everyday language use.

Norman Hartnell, Director said, “We are delighted that Donna and Gemma have successfully completed this course and gained the qualification in sign language. It is important to us that we make our family law services accessible to as many people as possible and having lawyers in the office who can do basic sign language undoubtedly supports that aim.”
