Becka Coombes from our child abduction team shares why she thinks the Family Law Company is a great place to work.

Being a Paralegal at The Family Law Company is both challenging and rewarding. We help clients during some of their most difficult times, enabling them to move on with their lives, which is a fantastic achievement for them but also a great sense of pride for me. My role sees me in contact with clients, authorities and the courts both here and internationally, and is varied to say the least. It’s fast paced and there is rarely a quiet moment!

It’s a great place to be, with colleagues from all backgrounds and experiences. We each have our individual roles and responsibilities but we are very much a unit that works together to support one another for a shared goal – to get the best outcome possible for our clients. Although our work requires lots of attention, we never miss out on the fun of socials, wellbeing activities and celebrations.

The Family Law Company encourage training and career progression at all levels. It is fantastic to learn from experienced colleagues who have invaluable knowledge. And it’s so diverse. The firm recognise the benefits of a number of study paths, including both CILEx apprenticeships and training contracts. It’s not a one size fits all.

The location isn’t bad either! Working in Exeter means a great balance between working in a busy city environment whilst remaining in the relaxed Devon life. The office location couldn’t be more practical, being near the courts, but also offers the green spaces of Southernhay or retail therapy of Princesshay just moments way. It’s a great place to be. The business community and networking in Exeter is great too, with legal professionals from many different fields. Great opportunities for those who are passionate about family law and making a difference to people in our communities.
