On Monday 30 May when most of us will be putting our feet up and enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend one member of the Hartnell Chanot team will be putting her feet firmly forward and running the BUPA 10k Run on behalf of Refuge, a national charity supporting women and children who have been victims of domestic violence.
Legal Executive Jill Read-Brown is our intrepid runner who was inspired take part in the physical challenge to support Refuge. In 2009 Jill won Legal Executive of the Year for her work with women suffering domestic abuse so she knows only too well how important services such as Refuge are to these women.
Jill commented: “I realised I couldn’t just sit back and bemoan the government for axing vital services so when I was asked to enter the run I threw caution to the wind and agreed to give it a go.”
She added: “Starting up running in your 50’s, when you’ve never run in your life is not to be taken lightly! However, I am determined to run the whole 10k and raise as much money as I physically can to help ensure that Refuge can continue to support these women and children.”
Refuge is a national charity for women and children who experience domestic violence, providing emergency accommodation and emotional and practical support.
