Language star joins The Family Law Company

The Children team at The Family Law Company at our Exeter branch is to benefit in international work with the recruitment of multi-lingual solicitor, Imran Khodabocus.

Imran, who took a degree in English Law with French and Spanish, and also speaks German, joins us from a regional law firm in Somerset to pursue his objective of specialising in family law.

He said: “When I was training I worked on a complicated case involving Norman Hartnell, Director of The Family Law Company. He must have left a lasting impression on me because when an opportunity arose within the company, I was determined to get the job.

“I’m delighted to be able to concentrate on family law, an area of law that really needs solicitors who can empathise with clients and children. As a family man myself I understand the stresses involved and keep the needs of children central to all I do.”

During his degree, Imran studied French and French Law at the University of Lyon, and Spanish at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. He also worked in Brussels, researching social housing provision in an effort to change the EU constitution.

As well as handling cases involving children, child arrangements and domestic violence, Imran will work on complex cases involving Honour Based Violence (HBV) and international children matters, such as where separated parents want to relocate abroad. He is also likely to become involved in international child abduction cases due to his excellent linguistic skills.

The Family Law Company Partner, Rachel Buckley said: “We are very excited to work with Imran, whose experience and knowledge adds another high level of skill to our strong Children team.

“On a lighter note, he also tells us he is quite the baker, so we’re looking forward to sampling some of his home cooking at upcoming bake days.”
