Exeter and Plymouth based family law specialist Hartnell Chanot & Partners have achieved a top tier ranking on their debut appearance in the Legal 500 directory.

The Legal 500 series provides comprehensive international coverage of the top legal services providers, in over 100 countries. Firms are separated out by specialist areas of law and then ranked based on their demonstrated capabilities, experience and service.

Hartnell Chanot & Partners are one of only 4 family law firms in the South West of England to be awarded a tier 1 ranking.

Norman Hartnell, Director, commented: “Everyone at Hartnell Chanot & Partners is dedicated to providing the highest level of service for our clients. We strive to distinguish ourselves as the leaders in our field and this achievement acknowledges all of that hard work and dedication.” He went on to state: “I am delighted that we have managed to achieve such a high ranking on our first listing in the directory. It is a tribute to the specialist nature of our niche teams and our creative, problem solving approach to family disputes.”

The judging panel acknowledged the efforts of many of the specialist team leaders in their summary:

Hartnell Chanot & Partners has experience acting for public sector employees, including in high-value pensions disputes. Jane Chanot specialises in child abduction cases and Stephen Sowden, who is ‘a realistic and experienced lawyer’, has built a niche practice assisting grandparents. Julie Shrimpton shows ‘true professionalism and care’.’

The firm is now looking forward to the Family Law Awards 2012, due to take place in London next month, where they will find out whether they will take home the award for Family Law Firm of the Year.
